YWAM
Scotland bought the mansion, Stanely
House, in 1992. It was built in the mid
to late 1800's. The Coates family,
responsible for building factories for
the thread industry and contributing
philanthropically in Paisley, had this
house built as a private residence atop
the highest hill in Paisley. It overlooks
a reservoir and a castle ruin. Notable
features include a Jacobean style swept
oak staircase, domed roof lantern and
galleried landing, ornate chimney pieces
and elaborate latticed plaster ceiling to
the principal ground floor room. Oak
window frames, doors, floors and wall
panelling can also be found throughout
the house.
Besides being used to train the emerging
generation through the ministries of
King's Kids and Preschool Resource team,
the house is used as the YWAM Scotland
headquarters and as a residence for some
of the staff serving in the Paisley area. |
