The Seamill Centre is ideally situated on its own
beautiful grounds, a hill overlooking the small
Ayrshire village of Seamill. The Centre has a
spectacular view of the Firth of Clyde and the
Isle of Arran. There are few places in Scotland,
perhaps the world, that can rival it for peaceful
beauty and natural splendour.
Built between 1893 and 1902, the Seamill Centre
was originally a convalescent home, and it was
first opened for the reception of convalescents
in 1896. A reminder of the history is the stained
glass window above the west stair which depicts
six of the men on the original building
committee. They wanted a bright and spacious
building in a congenial setting, and they were
not disappointed. The Seamill Centre is within
easy walking distance of West Kilbride's shops,
churches, and public transportation. In 1973 it
was purchased by Strathclyde Regional Council and
was run as a Teachers' Training Centre until
1993.
Then, in February of 1994, YWAM Scotland became
the owners. Now the Seamill Centre is being used
to its full potential to prepare Christians to go
to every nation as Christ's representatives.
There are several ministries and training courses
that are run out of the Seamill Centre:
In addition to schools
and seminars, one of the main ministries of the
Seamill Centre is to support and encourage the
local body of Christ. Through personal
relationships and monthly Celebration Services
meant to include local churches and individuals
in the power of what God is doing at the Seamill
Centre, the staff and students seek to be a
blessing on the local level as well as the
national and world-wide.
The Seamill Centre has numerous long and
short-term staff
opportunities for those interested in
global missions.
